TRANSITION TEAM UPDATE

What’s the purpose of the “Transition Team?”

• To help the members of Living Water heal after the loss of their Senior Pastor and to gain perspective on the chapter in our lives that has ended.
• To gather the feelings and ideas of both members and non-members of the Congregation about our church in a time of change.
• To provide a forum for the sharing and focusing of hopes and aspirations for the future of Living Water.
• To assist the Congregation in changing their focus on the past to a state of readiness for a new chapter in its life under the leadership of a new Senior Pastor.
• To involve the Congregation in accomplishing the developmental tasks of the interim period.

What specifically are the tasks of the “Transition Team?”

• Function as the eyes and the ears of the Congregation.
• Process dates and guide the time-line for the transition process.
• Facilitate opportunities for members of Living Water to meet, learn and discuss the transition process.
• Complete the “Congregational Mission Profile.”
  • Gather information concerning Living Water that will be pertinent to the call process.
  • Interpret the information.
  • Communicate the information to the Congregation.
• Assist Pastor Brian in completing the transition process.

One of our first opportunities to get together will be on January 24, 2009 from 5 to 8 pm.  Please mark it on your calendar now!  We need your participation.  The evening will begin with an old-time BBQ dinner.  After dinner, we will focus on Living Water’s history.  What’s our Story?  Where have we been?  How did we get to where we are?  What are the significant events in the life of Living Water that have gotten us here?  It’s important that we talk about our history as we decide where the Spirit will move us in the future.  Your opportunity may be to share or to learn.  We hope you will choose to join us for this important event.

Just as a reminder, your Transition Team members are Diane Bothun, Bonnie Moore, Gary Fjeld, Janice Moore, Lance Jacobson, Karen Olson, and Pastor Gene Perry.  Please let us know what you are thinking.  We want to make sure you are heard as we move though this process.  Also, Pastor Brian welcomes the opportunity to talk with you about your thoughts and dreams for Living Water.

Most importantly, we need your support and prayers.  We trust in both you and the Holy Spirit to guide us in this transition process.  Pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we move toward the decision of calling a new Pastor to serve our Congregation.  Also remember to pray for our new Pastor – that her/his heart may be prepared for the call that will come their way.
